CEOs, I’ve always been a reader. As a young girl, we’d get dropped off to the library daily in the summer( I now know that my mom just needed a break ) and be there literally ALL day. Each summer either my sister or I’d win, the most read books. As an adult, I always had a book in my purse, and even for short trips to the store etc. I’d pull out my book to read. It was my nature. But now, as a busy entrepreneur-I don’t have as much time as I used to-to read. If I can get 1-2 books read in a month-I count that as as win.
I have been wanting to start some sort of book reading with you all for a while. Giving my video breakdowns on socials was a start-but let’s go deeper. Because I don’t have a ton of time, I am reading with a specific purpose AND I recommend to you with a specific purpose.
Most of the books that I suggest to you have are intentional and have lessons that will
broaden your thinking of what is possible
encourage you through the stories of other entrepreneurs
go directly into sharing specific strategies ( I love these type of books )
So, at this point, I want to break some of them down, get you to read, then discuss them with you. I am determining exactly how we will do this as we go.
We are kicking this off with the 12 Week Year. This book was impactful to me for these reasons:
I get SUPER annoyed when I’m working with a client and they push off projects to years and years away. I have since learned
Shortening the time between learning and launching has been key to my business. This books goes into this deeply ( early in the book-chapter 2 ) and I think this is something that most entrepreneurs need to learn and adapt
I liked how the book got you to focus on increasing your urgency to get projects done. If I have 1 hour to do something-it can take me one hour. If I give myself all day to do something-it will definitely take all day.
I like to segment projects and to do’s. This book helps me with organizing that.
Multi-tasking is a GREAT skill of most women. However, it is a skill that actually dilutes our power sometimes. We need more focused time on tasks and projects instead of doing everything all at once.
I want you to start your reading now.
YOUR Assignment/GOAL: Read or Re-Read Chapters 1-3, then, let’s discuss.
Read 1-3 last week and finished 4-6 just now.
Tonight I plan to look for the weekly sheet on the site and start laying the actionable out for these chapters. Adding time blocks and notifications on my google suite to help keep me on point with routine.
Excellent Book! I'm on Chapter 8. I am committed to making it happen. Excellent Book, Again!
